Robotic Challenge | SETU in Carlow | Post Primary
SETU in Carlow
Audience: Transition Year/Senior Cycle students
We are delighted to invite your students to Robo Zone, a special hands-on robotics event organised to celebrate Engineers Week. The workshop will take place in the robotics lab on the SETU Carlow campus and is designed specifically for Transition Year/Senior Cycle students.
During this session, students will work in teams using LEGO® Spike Prime kits to design, build, and program their own autonomous robots. They will be supported throughout by our enthusiastic Robotics students, who will provide demonstrations, guidance, and expert insights into robotics and engineering.
Participants will take on two exciting challenges:
- Line Follower Challenge – Build a robot capable of following a black line around our Robotics Island with speed and precision.
- Maze Escape Challenge – Create a robot that can navigate and escape a specially designed maze using sensors, algorithmic logic, and clever problem-solving.
While the fastest robot will earn the title of overall champion, we will also present special awards for:
- Best Hardware Design
- Best Software / Algorithm
- Most Creative Build
- Best Teamwork
- Judges’ Choice Award
We can accommodate two groups of 24 participants, with the event taking place on:
📅 Tuesday, 3rd March
🕚 Session 1: 11:00–13:00
🕒 Session 2: 13:00–15:00
This workshop offers a fun, inspiring introduction to robotics, engineering, and computational thinking — all in a friendly, engaging environment. We look forward to welcoming your students to the robotics lab at SETU Carlow campus for an unforgettable Robo Zone experience!
